The Palliative Care Unit at North Tyneside General Hospital are looking for nursing assistants to join our lovely team.

The unit consists of 19 beds and we care for patients with a range of palliative care needs, including end of life care.

The posts are full time and are permanent and the roles are rotational to include day and night shift pattern.

Palliative care experience is not essential as support will be given on the unit. However, a passion for working within this rewarding speciality is essential.

• To assist the qualified staff to provide high standards of patient centred care.
• The successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills. These skills are essential when supporting the patients and visitors and throughout team working.
• The successful candidate must be a good team player but to equally use their own initiative to work independently when needed.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. • To support patients with hygiene, dietary, continence, pressure area care, comfort needs on the unit.
• To carry out physiological observations.
• To liaise with the qualified staff with any changes regarding the patients condition.
